Los Angeles, CA –The Moody Blues will launch their 2011 U.S. tour nationwide kicking off on April 27, 2011 at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre in New Orleans and will continue through June 11. The band, whose legacy spans four decades of hit-making and sell-out tours, will continue to entertain audiences with their timeless music. Says the New York Post of their live show: ”The rockers played a set that reminded the sold-out Music Hall why (The Moody Blues are) one of the most important rock acts to ever come out of the U.K…the trio looked remarkably sound and sounded untouched by time…” Echoes USA Weekend: “Fans were on their feet applauding great music from a great rock n’ roll band with staying power beyond anybody’s ‘wildest dreams.’” Says the St. Louis Post Dispatch: “The Moodies depend on nostalgic memories of their fans’ youth, but they also know that in the present, these songs can still move the listener.”

The Moodies’ legendary hit “Nights In White Satin” originally released in 1967 from their landmark “Days Of Future Passed” album, just landed at #2 on the UK Rock Chart, and at #27 on the BBC Radio 1 chart, making it the fourth time that “Nights” has charted in its 40-plus year history. The song’s resurgence ignited from a recent smash cover performance by Matt Cardle, current winner of Simon Cowell’s hit UK show “The X Factor” (check out Cardle’s performance of the song at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUTGJN9qCnc ).

The Moody Blues have sold in excess of 70 million albums worldwide and have been awarded an astonishing 14 platinum and gold discs. Their incredible roster of hits includes: “Nights In White Satin,” “Tuesday Afternoon,” “Ride My See Saw,” “The Story In Your Eyes,” “Isn’t Life Strange,” “Question,” “I’m Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band),” “Your Wildest Dreams,” and “I Know You’re Out There Somewhere,” to name a few. The Moody Blues’ No. 1, Top 5, Top 10, Top 20, Top 40, Multi-Platinum, Platinum and Gold albums and singles, have generated sold-out tours on a consistent basis over the course of several decades, making them one of the top-grossing album and touring bands in existence.

Veteran Concert Promoter Founds New Company,
Invigorates Bay Area Entertainment Scene

Appearances by Bill Maher and The Moody Blues
Lead Inaugural Star-Studded “Rick Bartalini Presents” Line-Up

(Santa Rosa, CALIF.) — Rick Bartalini, a veteran Bay Area concert promoter has opened the new independent presenting firm “Rick Bartalini Presents.” The company’s first shows include two appearances by HBO star Bill Maher (New Year’s Eve at the Marin Center and New Year’s Day at Lincoln Theater Napa Valley); both shows sold out in 30 days.

This Saturday, Dec. 11 at 11a.m., tickets go on sale for the first-ever Marin County appearance of the ground-breaking English rock band The Moody Blues which will appear on Tuesday, May 24 at the Marin Center in San Rafael, California. Having sold some 70 million albums since their 1964 inception, the “Moodies” are best loved for such indelible hits as “Knights in White Satin” from their ambitious song cycle concept album “Days of Future Passed.”

Because of Bartalini’s long relationship with the band and their agency, Creative Artists Agency, booking The Moody Blues was naturally the next step following the success of the sell-outs of his first independently-promoted shows featuring the star of HBO’s Real Time, Bill Maher. Prior to founding his own presenting company, Bartalini was the talent-buyer for a large performing arts venue located in Sonoma’s Wine Country for more than a decade. Later in 2011, Bartalini will produce comedian Lewis Black’s Comedy Cruise to the Caribbean and will continue to present world-class entertainment beginning in Marin, Napa and Sonoma counties and then expand geographically. Bartalini has contracted with the Sonoma County Fairgrounds and will soon announce shows at that site which has the capacity for 3000 to 11,000 attendees.

“We are thrilled that Rick Bartalini is bringing his expertise as a presenter to Lincoln Theater Napa Valley,” said Richard Aldag, Lincoln Theater Napa Valley Executive Director, “We hope that the already successful Bill Maher show is just the beginning of a long and fruitful collaboration.”

Jim Farley, Marin Center Director of Cultural and Visitor Services said, “Rick Bartalini’s reputation as one of the Bay Area’s top bookers and event masterminds preceded his promotion of Bill Maher at the Marin Center. I could see his years of experience and expertise rolled into the fast, hard-hitting campaign that sold-out Bill Maher’s debut in weeks. Rick knows show business. We, in the North Bay, are fortunate to have a leader of his talent bringing great artists to our backyard!”

“I look forward to bringing the thrilling experience of live entertainment to vast audiences at varied venues,” added Bartalini, “I am inspired by this opportunity and grateful for so many people throughout my career who have encouraged me to pursue my own business which has fulfilled a childhood dream.”

Throughout Bartalini’s career he has built relationships with the highest-level professionals in show business, brought HBO to the Bay Area for a series of hit comedy specials and presented artists such as Steely Dan, Dolly Parton, Juan Gabriel, Johnny Mathis, Bill Cosby, Crosby, Stills & Nash, George Lopez, Brian Setzer, Ringo Starr, Lyle Lovett, Marco Antonio Solis, Ellen DeGeneres, Diana Ross, Diana Krall, Carole King, Sheryl Crow, Heart, Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge, Earth, Wind & Fire, Keith Urban, Dave Koz, Olivia Newton-John and hundreds of others. Audiences and entertainers can expect that Bartalini’s tradition of delivering the finest artists, aggressive marketing and warm hospitality will continue with Rick Bartalini Presents.

Tickets for The Moody Blues on May 24, 2011 at the Marin Center in San Rafael, California, which range in price from $49.75 to $89.75, go on sale at 11a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010. To purchase go to www.rbpconcerts.com.

Rick Bartalini Presents will donate a portion of proceeds from the sale of every ticket to The Trevor Project. The Trevor Project is the leading national organization focused on crisis and suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth.

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (October 20, 2010) – Bill Maher, comedian and host of “Real Time” on HBO will perform two special Bay Area concerts on New Year’s Eve at the Marin Center in San Rafael and on New Year’s Day at the Lincoln Theater in  Napa, announced Rick Bartalini Presents. The concerts will mark Maher’s first appearance in Marin County and the Napa Valley. Tickets for both performances go on sale this Saturday, October 23 at 10am.

For the last fifteen years, Bill Maher has set the boundaries of where funny, political talk can go on American television. First on “Politically Incorrect” (Comedy Central, ABC, 1993-2002), and for the last seven years on HBO’s “Real Time,” Maher’s combination of unflinching honesty and big laughs have garnered him 21 Emmy nominations. In October 2008, this same combination was on display in Maher’s uproarious and unprecedented swipe at organized religion, “Religulous,” directed by Larry Charles (“Borat”). The documentary has gone on to become the seventh highest grossing documentary ever. Maher will appear Oct. 26 on TBS’s The George Lopez Show, Nov. 9 on MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann and Dec. 16 on CNN’s Larry King Live.

Testimonials

In 2006, The Press Democrat called Bartalini “a major reason Sonoma County’s largest concert venue, has raised its profile.”

In 2008, the North Bay Biz Magazine said of Bartalini “he’s helped put the Center and Santa Rosa on the map, consistently booking high-profile artists.” In 2009 and 2010, the magazine voted the Center “Best Entertainment Venue.”

In 2010, Two-time Grammy Hall of Fame inductee Johnny Mathis said from his home in Beverly Hills regarding Bartalini: What a joy it has been to know and work with this talented and kind man for these past years. His knowledge of this theater and the neighborhood it services have always been so important and helpful to me and my co-workers. Nothing was ever too much trouble for his complete attention and concern. I hope that someone somewhere gets the benefit of all of the best qualities a person can have that he possesses. I will always treasure his generous spirit and continued presence.

You treat our artists with the utmost respect and we enjoy a great working relationship with you. I hope we continue to do business together for many years to come.

Rick–Just wanted to thank you so much again for going so above and beyond last night, making our visit to Santa Rosa incredibly special. Not only did the guys and I love doing the show—but the backstage was even better! The food, the wine, the GIFTS, the amazing hospitality…you really outdid yourself. In all my years of gigs, I’ve never seen anything like it!! Jim, Mark and Bill—you guys would’ve been amazed. Thanks so much again, Ricky—it’s was an extremely memorable night, and certainly one stop we will not soon forget on SJC 2008. Happy holidays and hope to see you again very soon. Thanks again.

I just have to say it..I don’t think we’ve ever been treated this nice before…let’s give them a hand…

David Archuleta

Carole King- a major thank you back. You guys were 110% wonderful and more. You don’t know what it means to a group to end a tour like that, and we really appreciate the effort!

Joe Cardosi

Thank you Rick. Your theater and hospitality were the best I’ve ever experienced

Joel McHale

Rick, I hope you’re well. You are one of the most proactive, marketing-wise buyers we deal with and I just want you to know that, and to know that we appreciate your partnership.

Kerry HansenWynonna, Inc.

Hey Rick, tonight’s show was the best show I’ve seen, may be ever. Both men were spontaneous and affectionately generous with each other and the audience, and it worked. The warmth and humor onstage was amazing. Thanks for your determination and vision, without which this night would never have happened! Cheers, Lisa p.s. you took a huge risk…pushing two legends as far as you did…it was magic and it paid off. It really was as good as it gets!! It made for a night we will never forget. Thanks forever;) Love on! Kris, Lisa and family

Kris & Lisa Kristofferson

Regarding HBO special Long Live the Queen Lisa Lampanelli – Rick, YOU ARE THE BEST!!! Thank you so much for the photos — they are amazing! And thanks for everything you did for me last weekend, and throughout the past few months. The show would not have been a success without you. I love you and look forward to working together again soon. XO, Lisa.

Lisa Lampanelli

You are so welcome! I can never fully express how much I appreciate you and everyone at the venue. You were such a huge part of making it this a success. xoxo Mags

Has to be said, and David insisted that I spread the word.. we could not have been treated better, the staff, the production, promotions, everything was top notch – might have easily been the best vibe of the whole tour and we are only just started (kind of like the best movie of the 80s being raging bull and it was released in 1980 – the best came first.. lol) would recommend the venue, the gig to anyone and hope to get back there because of how great it was.

Raymond AmicoTour Manager for David Archuleta

Regarding Dana Carvey for HBO – You really did it up right to make this an event and not just another show. Great job and congratulations!

Robert NormanCreative Artists Agency

Gil says that it was the best concert experience that he ever had – and everyone agrees. As I told you he said of all the years working with Johnny Mathis (35 years), Santa Rosa, Dec 2-3, 2005 was the best.

Robert ScottManager for Johnny Mathis, Dec. 2005

Really, that’s the most impressively laid out plan of the year…I love details like that AND NEVER GET THEM. Thank you for bringing us back, believing in our artist and for spending that dough. You are a role model in efficiency…

You’re a pro and I wish that all promoters could be like you!! Makes the stress much less!!

Thanks Rick again thanks for everything you did that made it a special night (for Kathy Griffin, Bravo Special). You really went over and beyond and made me look pretty smart on this. Much appreciated.

Well Rick, my friend, this is Wynonna, and I’m sitting in a trailer on the Paramount lot doing a TV show and I’m sitting here with Kerry Hansen and Tami Olin….and we were talking about you, and how your gift not only to myself, but the band and crew, and to the children but to Scarlett…that really was just like the top five of the coolest things ever in my 24 years that anyone has ever done for me….and I just want you to know that I appreciate you….because everybody just had such a great day, that day, and to top it off you went out of your way to bless each and every person individually and that just really made a huge impact on our group….and it’s amazing how that kind of love and support just causes people – it’s very life giving and it was a really special thing that you did and I just wanted you to know that I really appreciate it. It’s a long road and days like the one we had with you make it worth while so…I hope you get some time off. Merry Christmas to you and a very happy healthy New Year and I look forward to seeing you again next year!

About

RBP Ticket Sales

Veteran talent buyer Rick Bartalini is the driving force behind Rick Bartalini Presents (RBP), Hawai’i’s premier live entertainment promoter. Prior to launching RBP in 2010, Bartalini rose to record-breaking success in Northern California’s Sonoma Wine Country, booking more than 350 concerts and selling a staggering 450,000 tickets with gross sales exceeding $25M.

Bartalini has worked with every conceivable major entertainer over the last 30 years including Mariah Carey, New Kids on the Block, Journey, Earth, Wind & Fire, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Janet Jackson, Madonna, P!NK, Olivia Newton-John, Dolly Parton, Josh Groban, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, B.B.King, Ellen DeGeneres, Trevor Noah and many others.

Since the launch of RBP, the company has promoted concerts throughout the Hawaiian Islands and California and has generated unparalleled ticket sales, selling over 300,000 tickets in 14 cities, with gross sales exceeding $27M. After relocating to Honolulu in 2016, Rick Bartalini recruited entertainment’s biggest names to Hawai’i utilizing his 30 years of experience and extensive contacts in the entertainment industry.

In 2015, RBP presented legendary superstar Diana Ross’ first-ever concert in Hawai’i. Ms. Ross’ performance on June 13, 2015, at the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, shattered records and became the highest-grossing U.S. concert in her touring history. The international music icon also sold out two exclusive concerts on Maui, which are noted as the highest-grossing concerts ever at the intimate Castle Theater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.

RBP’s record-breaking success was further boosted in 2016 with three sold-old concerts featuring Mariah Carey at Honolulu’s Neal S. Blaisdell Arena. Ticket sales exceeded 21,000 tickets, grossing over $2.4M.

When COVID-19 shuttered the state’s live event industry for two years, Rick Bartalini worked with local and state government to find solutions to safely bring back live events and entertainment.

Hawai’i. While RBP’s arc of success was interrupted by the years-long shutdown of the live entertainment industry from 2020 to 2022 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company was awarded a significant sum of money under the federal government’s Shuttered Venue Operators Grant in 2021. The grant, based on RBP’s proven financial success, allowed the company to expand. That expansion, in part, parlayed into RBP’s most successful year ever in the state of Hawai’i in 2022, when the promoter sold over 30,000 tickets with gross sales exceeding $4.7M.

Rick Bartalini is proud to call Hawai’i home and is well known throughout the Hawaiian Islands for providing quality entertainment and supporting the state’s live entertainment industry.
