Get ready, Hawai’i! The “Don Ho of New Years” is coming back once again!

For the 11th time, Bill Maher, acclaimed stand-up comedian, author, and host of HBO’s long-running Real Time with Bill Maher, will be in the Aloha State to ring in the new year with the people of Hawai’i. Joined by Jeff Ross and Wendy Liebman, Maher will deliver two shows filled with his acerbic and intelligent humor at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center (December 30) and the Tom Moffat Waikiki Shell (December 31).

Committed to making sure that the people of Hawai’i get first crack at the best seats at the best prices, Rick Bartalini Presents (RBP) is once again offering geo-limited week-long online-only presales for Hawai’i residents that will begin at 10:00 A.M. HST on Saturday, September 17 at ticketmaster.com (Honolulu show).  No password will be required. RBP strongly encourages the people of Hawai’i to take advantage of the geo-limited presales and get their tickets before they go on sale to the mainland because once the geofence is removed, global scalpers and bots can no longer be excluded.  Tickets for the Maui show also go on sale without geofencing at 10:00 A.M. HST on Saturday, September 17 at mauiarts.org (Maui show).

Now in its 20th season, HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher is renowned for Maher’s honesty and pugnacity as well as his eclectic guest list. Maher’s biting and intelligent commentary on American and international political and social events has been honed over his lengthy and illustrious career.

Since his beginnings as a stand-up comedian in 1979, Maher has had a considerable impact on America’s culture and social consciousness. As the host of Politically Incorrect (Comedy Central, ABC, 1993-2002), and Real Time, Maher has parlayed his combination of unflinching honesty and big laughs into 41 Emmy nominations. Maher won his first Emmy in 2014 as executive producer for the HBO series, “VICE.”

In addition to his television program and specials – which have featured such visitors as President Barack Obama, Vice President Joseph Biden, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Howard Stern, Barbra Streisand, Kerry Washington, Michael Moore, Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Gen. Wesley Clark – Maher has written five bestselling books.

Most recently, Bill launched a new podcast, “Club Random with Bill Maher.” The podcast records at the bar on Bill’s property in Los Angeles, called Club Random, where he hosts hour-long, one-on-one interviews with a wide range of eclectic guests. Each episode features free-flowing, longform conversations about anything and everything, except politics. Guests have included William Shatner, Quentin Tarantino, Bella Thorne, Adam Carolla, Killer Mike, Judd Apatow, and many more. Within a week of launching, the podcast hit #1 on Apple Podcasts.

With commentary more blistering than Maher’s, special guest Jeff Ross has been crowned “The Meanest Man in Comedy” by New York Magazine. Known for his celebrity roasts, Ross has guested on dozens of television shows including Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The View, and Real Time with Bill Maher. He last appeared live in Hawai’i at Bill Maher’s 2015 New Year’s Eve shows.

Funny since birth, special guest Wendy Liebman was honored as “Best Female Stand-up Comedian” by the American Comedy Awards in 1997. She has performed in person and on television in America and the U.K. Her television appearances include stints on Carson, Letterman, Leno, Fallon, Kimmel, Ferguson, Hollywood Squares, and America’s Got Talent. She has also starred in specials for HBO, Showtime, and Comedy Central.

As with past events, concert promoter RBP is offering geo-limited online-only presales to residents who have a Hawai’i zip code on their credit card billing address for the Oahu show. These presales are geofenced by the ticket-selling platform, which will automatically cross-check zip codes on the credit cards used to purchase tickets. Additionally, during the presale, ticket sale activity will be actively monitored to ensure that the presale is handled fairly for Hawai’i residents. If any out-of-state purchases slip through the platform, those tickets will be canceled and returned to the inventory for Hawai’i residents to purchase first.

With Maher as Hawaii’s long-standing date for New Year’s Eve, residents of the Aloha State are well aware that the year-end extravaganzas are filled with exceptional guests – both those on the bill and some surprises too. Since 2010, guests have included David Spade, Jeff Ross, Margaret Cho, Dana Gould, Bob Saget, Reggie Brown, Natasha Leggero, and Carol Leifer. Additionally, special  unannounced appearances have been made by Sean Penn, Micheal Moore, Eddie Vedder, Woody Harrelson, Paul Simon, and Bonnie Hunt. While RPB can’t say for sure who might appear on stage at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center or the Tom Moffat Waikki Shell this New Year’s, the RBP team does know that there will be no better place to usher in 2023.
