Back by popular demand, Texas singer-songwriters Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen will be returning to the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium for a special acoustic performance on March 26th, 2016. Lovett and Keen, who as friends spent many a night performing together on their front porches – will perform acoustic, stripped-down versions of their most well-known songs, and share the humorous and heartwarming stories behind them. A singer, composer and actor, Lyle Lovett has broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 14 albums. Coupled with his gift for storytelling, the Texas-based musician fuses elements of country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel and blues in a convention-defying manner that breaks down barriers. Lovett has appeared in 13 feature films, and on stage and television. Among his many accolades, besides the four Grammy Awards, he was given the Americana Music Association’s inaugural Trailblazer Award, and was recently named the Texas State Musician.

As singer/songwriter Robert Earl Keen has built a reputation as one of the nation’s finest musical storytellers, he has been guided by several self-imposed rules and traditions that are often the antithesis of music industry standards.

Bill Maher Returns To Sacramento This Valentine’s Day

Tickets on sale to general public starting
Friday, December 18th at 10:00 A.M. PT

This Valentine’s Day, Bill Maher will return to Sacramento’s Community Center Theater for the first time in nearly five years for an unforgettable evening of comedy. Back by popular demand, Maher last performed at the Sacramento Community Center Theater in 2011 to a sold out crowd. Tickets will go on sale to the general public this Friday, December 18th at 10:00 A.M. PT.

For more than twenty years, Bill Maher has set the boundaries of where funny, political talk can go on American television. First on Politically Incorrect (Comedy Central, ABC, 1993-2002), and for the last twelve years on HBO’s Real Time, Maher’s combination of unflinching honesty and big laughs have garnered him 32 Emmy nominations. In October of 2008, this same combination was on display in Maher’s uproarious and unprecedented swipe at organized religion, Religulous, directed by Larry Charles (Borat). The documentary has gone on to become the 8th Highest Grossing Documentary ever.

In addition to his television program – which has featured such regular visitors as Howard Dean, Ben Affleck, Robin Williams, Arianna Huffington, Cory Booker and Michael Moore – Maher has written five bestsellers: True Story, Does Anybody Have a Problem with That? Politically Incorrect’s Greatest Hits, When You Ride Alone, You Ride with Bin Laden, New Rules: Polite Musings from a Timid Observer, and most recently, The New New Rules: A Funny Look at How Everybody But Me Has Their Head Up Their Ass.

Maher started his career as a stand-up comedian in 1979, and still performs at least fifty dates a year in Las Vegas and in sold out theaters all across the country. Three of his nine stand-up specials for HBO – 2007’s The Decider, 2005’s I’m Swiss, as well as his most recent, the hilarious, Bill Maher … But I’m Not Wrong, – have been nominated for Emmy awards.

Maher was born in New York City, raised in River Vale, N.J. and went to Cornell University. He now resides in Los Angeles.

BILL MAHER RETURNS TO HAWAII WITH SPECIAL GUESTS DAVID SPADE & JEFF ROSS

Special Kama’aina pre-sale tickets available for Hawaii residents only

this Thursday, October 8th at 10:00 A.M. HST

Tickets on sale to general public starting Friday, October 16th at 10:00 A.M. HST

For the fifth year in a row, Bill Maher will be ringing in the New Year once again in the Hawaiian Islands featuring his biggest shows yet with New Year’s MAHERMEGGEDON: An evening of Comedy with Bill Maher and Special Guests David Spade & Jeff Ross. Performances will be New Year’s Eve at the Blaisdell Concert Hall in Honolulu and New Year’s Day at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului. Making the celebration bigger than ever before, the legendary comedian and host of HBO’s Real Time will welcome David Spade and Jeff Ross to the party for the first time ever. After sold-out shows for the past four years, Maher continues to make good on his promise to be the “Don Ho of New Year’s.”

Special Kama’aina pre-sale tickets to both shows will go on sale for Hawaii residents only this Thursday, October 8th at 10:00 A.M. HST. Additional pre-sales will begin Friday, October 9th at 10:00 A.M. Tickets go on sale to the general public starting Friday, October 16th at 10:00 A.M. HST.

As the U.S. rings in a Presidential election year, Maher will surely have plenty of material to draw from and there’s no telling what he will say. For over 20 years, Maher, who began his career as a stand-up comedian and still performs sold-out dates across the country, has never held back and set the boundaries of where funny and political talk can go on American television. First on Politically Incorrect (Comedy Central, ABC, 1993-2002) and for the last 10 years on HBO’s Real Time, Maher’s combination of unflinching honesty and big laughs has earned him 34 Emmy nominations; winning his first in 2014 as the Executive Producer for HBO’s Vice. In 2008, he wrote and starred in Religulous directed by Larry Charles (Borat). The documentary about religions around the world went on to become the eighth highest grossing documentary ever.

Adding to this New Year’s extravaganza will be Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actor and comedian David Spade. The Saturday Night Live alum became a household name for role as Dennis Finch, the wise-cracking, power-hungry assistant on NBC’s Just Shoot Me. Most recently, he was seen starring in Grown Up’s 2 with Adam Sandler, Chris Rock and Kevin James. Spade was also part of the final season of the CBS comedy Rules of Engagement and last year he was heard as the voice of ‘Griffin invisible man’ in the animated film Hotel Transylvania.

Jeff Ross, known as “The Roastmaster General” for his hilarious and bold celebrity roasts, will also take the stage. This past summer Comedy Central aired his most recent special, Jeff Ross Roasts Criminals: Live From Brazos County Jail. It was perhaps his most dangerous roast ever. Additionally, he was recently seen on the big screen in Jeremy Garrelick’s The Wedding Ringer with Kevin Hart and Josh Gad and in Flock of Dudes with Chris D’Elia. His writing credits include the screenplay The Comedian (co-written with Art Linson) and the book, I Only Roast The Ones I Love.

Fans can expect the unexpected when it comes to Maher’s New Year’s extravaganza. In 2013, Academy Award-winner Sean Penn and Director Michael Moore made a surprise appearance to introduce Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, who wowed the crowd with a surprise acoustic set. This year, David Spade and Jeff Ross will only add to the Mahermageddon hysteria. No matter what happens, one thing is for certain: The Islands are the place to be to welcome in 2016.

“I think everybody wants to be in Hawaii in December,” Maher said. “That was my plan all year; get my ass booked there for New Year’s!”

It feels good. It’s about sharing. Music is like the heartbeat of our world.”

About Diana Ross

With a career spanning over six decades it’s inconceivable to think Diana Ross has never performed a full-length concert in Hawaii. That’s all about to change as Ms. Ross brings her magical live stage production to The Islands. The concert is a complete theatrical experience, filled with breathtaking costumes, an elegant stage design, a blasting four-piece horn section and a massive catalog of hit songs, such as “Stop! In the Name of Love”, “Touch Me in the Morning”, and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” Reviews have been stellar for her recent shows, proving that the icon of stage and screen is still in her prime. The Star-Telegram in Texas raves: “Diana Ross held the fortunate (audience)…in the palm of her hand from the beginning, and never let them go.” As the star herself has stated, “My interaction is with the audience on a one-to-one. I always try to see their faces and try to see their eyes. It’s that harmonious vibration, good energy that flows between the audience and myself and the band and the music. Music is like love. It feels good. It’s about sharing. Music is like the heartbeat of our world.”

Diana Ross has had a profound influence on pop culture all around the world. She’s an Academy Award-nominated actress for her unforgettable role as Billie Holiday in Lady Sings the Blues; a Tony and Golden Globe winner; a bestselling author; the winner of eight American Music Awards, as well as a Grammy Award for lifetime achievement; and a recipient of The Kennedy Center Honors. Her reputation as a woman of great style and beauty has landed her on the covers of hundreds of magazines. Ms. Ross has sold over 100 million records and recorded 18 #1 hits. Her music became the sound of young America in the ‘60s soon after she signed with Motown Records in 1961 with The Supremes. She embarked on her extraordinary solo career in 1970 and has not stopped since.

Diana Ross sings the soundtrack of our lives—a true musical treasure. You don’t want to miss this rare opportunity to see “The Female Entertainer of the Century” (as proclaimed by Billboard Magazine) when she performs her first concerts in Hawaii.
