With a six-decade career and 200 plus albums, this iconic Texan is the creative genius behind the historic recordings of Crazy, Red Headed Stranger, and Stardust. Nelson has earned every conceivable award as a musician and has amassed reputable credentials as an author, actor, and activist.

Nelson has always been a musical and cultural force and he is not slowing down. In recent years, he has:

  • Delivered more than a dozen new albums;
  • Released his autobiography,
    It’s a Long Story: My Life,
    which became a Top 10 New York Times’ Bestseller;
  • Headlined Farm Aid, the
    event he co-founded in 1985;
  • Headlined the annual Luck
    Reunion food and music festival at his ranch in Luck, TX during SXSW;

    and AARP The Magazine.

Several of his recent albums are notable. Django And Jimmie (2015), a duet album with Merle Haggard, debuted at #1 on Billboard‘s Country album chart and #7 on Billboard‘s Top 200 album chart. Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin (2015) is a collection of 11 newly-recorded Gershwin classics that debuted at #1 on both the Top Current Jazz chart and the Top Traditional Jazz chart. It also earned Nelson a Grammy Award for the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.

Other new releases include For the Good Times: A Tribute to Ray Price (2016), Willie Nelson and The Boys (2017), and God’s Problem Child (2017), which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Country album chart and #10 on the Billboard 200.

In 2018, Nelson released two more albums. Last Man Standing was recorded in celebration of his 85th birthday. It is comprised entirely of songs newly-penned by Nelson (and longtime collaborator and producer Buddy Cannon). My Way is a collection of newly recorded standards and classic originally made famous by Nelson’s close friend and musical colleague Frank Sinatra.

These new songs and albums add to his classic catalog and find Nelson rolling at a creative peak, writing and singing and playing with the seasoned wit and wisdom that comes from still traveling on the road.

The tradition continues! For the eighth year in a row, Bill Maher will be ringing in the New Year in Hawaii, at Maui Arts & Cultural Center (December 30) and Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall (December 31). To make this year’s celebration extra memorable, Bill will be joined by two very special guest comediennes and queens of late night comedy, Natasha Leggero and Wendy Liebman. With his sold-out shows for the past seven years, Maher continues to make good on his promise to be the “Don Ho of New Year’s.”

Starting Friday, September 7 at 8:00 A.M., fans can use pre-sale code RUSSIA to get early access to tickets before they go on sale to the general public. Hawaii fans may purchase up to eight tickets each. Pre-sale is on-line only and runs until 10:00 A.M. HST the same day. Tickets go on sale to the general public starting Friday, September 7 at 10:00 A.M.

Maher began his career as a stand-up comedian and still performs sold-out dates across the country. But he may be best known for his television programming, which has never held back and has set the boundaries of where funny and political talk can go on American television. First on Politically Incorrect (Comedy Central, ABC, 1993-2002) and for the last 10 years on HBO’s Real Time, Maher’s combination of unflinching honesty and big laughs has earned him 34 Emmy nominations; winning his first in 2014 as the Executive Producer for HBO’s Vice. In 2008, he wrote and starred in Religulous directed by Larry Charles (Borat). The documentary about religions around the world went on to become the eighth highest-grossing documentary ever.

Adding to this New Year’s extravaganza are Natasha Leggero and Wendy Liebman. Leggero is an accomplished actress, writer, and stand-up comedian who created, wrote, produced and stars in the Comedy Central sitcom Another Period. Leggero can also be seen starring opposite Andrew Dice Clay on DICE. Stemming from her breakout appearance on the Comedy Central Roast of James Franco, Leggero was lauded as the stand-out roaster on the Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber. Wendy Liebman has been a regular on late night television and recently made it to the semifinals of America’s Got Talent. She has done half-hour specials for HBO and Comedy Central, and her first hour, Wendy Liebman Taller on TV premiered on Showtime in November 2017.

Fans can expect the unexpected when it comes to Maher’s New Year’s extravaganza. In 2013, Academy Award-winner actor Sean Penn and director Michael Moore made a surprise appearance to introduce Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, who wowed the crowd with a surprise acoustic set. In 2015, David Spade and Jeff Ross added to the hysteria, and were followed up by Margaret Cho and Dana Gould in 2016 and finally by Bob Saget and Reggie Brown in 2017. No matter what happens, one thing is for certain: The Islands are the place to be as the world welcomes in 2019.

“I think everybody wants to be in Hawaii in December,” Maher said. “That was my plan all year; get my ass booked there for New Year’s!”

Starting Friday, August 24 at 9:00 A.M., Hawaii fans can use pre-sale code ALOHA to get early access to tickets before they go on sale to the public. “Christmas is very special for me. There were seven of us growing up
and my mom and dad always made it such a wonderful, magical time.”
— Johnny Mathis

Mathis released his first smash holiday album Merry Christmas in 1958 to universal acclaim. The album ultimately became one of the Top 10 best-selling Christmas albums of all time and paved the way for several successful holiday albums. Johnny was just nominated for a 2015 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for his Sending You A Little Christmas album, alongside pop luminaries Barbra Streisand, Barry Manilow, Annie Lennox, Tony Bennett, and Lady Gaga.

Johnny’s accomplishments are not limited to his holiday hits. He has received four other Grammy nominations, including one in 2010 for Let It Be Me – Mathis In Nashville. This nomination, for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, is all the more remarkable because it was his first foray into classic country music. Johnny has also been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame three times for “Chances Are”, “Misty”, and “It’s Not for me to Say”. Record historian Joel Whitburn notes that Johnny is one of only five recording artists to have Top 40 Hits spanning each of his first four decades as a recording artist. As of 2013, he has now had a hit in every decade of his career thanks to his lovely song with Jim Brickman, “Sending You a Little Christmas,” which peaked at #4 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart! Most impressive of all is his 2003 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

As if this weren’t enough, Johnny continues to be honored in many different ways. In 2011, he performed for former Secretary of State Colin Powell and received the Gold Medal of the Academy of Achievement at the Academy’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., acknowledging his many accomplishments throughout his career. In 2013, he received the Art Gilmore Career Achievement Award from the Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters for Radio & Television, and was inducted into the America’s Pop Music Hall of Fame.

Celebrating his 62nd year in the music industry, legendary singer Johnny Mathis’ sublime vocal approach to music eclipses passing fads and trends. He has performed songs in an incredible variety of styles and categories — from music composed for stage and film to golden era jazz standards, contemporary pop hits, and holiday music, all of which has assured his reputation as one of the most enduring vocalists in music history.

Best-known for his supremely popular hits like “Chances Are”, “It’s Not for me to Say”, “Misty”, and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”, Johnny has recorded close to 80 albums, including six Christmas albums that have made him the undisputed and iconic “Voice of Christmas.”

After over 60 years as a recording artist, what’s next for Johnny? The artist replies: “I don’t think about retiring. I think about how I can keep singing for the rest of my life.”

Except for a brief period in NYC in the late 1960s, Jackson has always lived in Southern California. His debut album came out on David Geffen’s Asylum Records in 1972. Since then, he has released fourteen studio albums and four collections of live performances. His most recent studio album, Standing In The Breach, is a collection of ten songs, at turns deeply personal and political, exploring love, hope, and defiance in the face of the advancing uncertainties of modern life.

He is the author of Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary, a collection of fables with illustrations by Ian Falconer. Each of these books was an immediate bestseller. He was also the editor of Children Playing Before a Statue of Hercules: An Anthology of Outstanding Stories. His pieces regularly appear in The New Yorker and have twice been included in “The Best American Essays.” There are over ten million copies of his books in print and they have been translated into 25 languages.

He and his sister, Amy Sedaris, have collaborated under the name “The Talent Family” and have written half-a-dozen plays which have been produced at La Mama, Lincoln Center, and The Drama Department in New York City. These plays include Stump the Host, Stitches, One Woman Shoe, which received an Obie Award, Incident at Cobbler’s Knob, and The Book of Liz, which was published in book form by Dramatists Play Service.

Sedaris’ original audio pieces can often be heard on the public radio show This American Life. He has been nominated for three Grammy Awards for Best Spoken Word and Best Comedy Album. His latest audio recording of new stories (recorded live) is “David Sedaris: Live for Your Listening Pleasure” (November 2009). A feature film adaptation of his story C.O.G. was released after a premiere at the Sundance Film Festival (2013). Since 2011, he can be heard annually on a series of live recordings on BBC Radio 4 entitled “Meet David Sedaris.”

As a companion piece to Theft By Finding, Jeffrey Jenkins published and edited an art book of Sedaris’ diary covers, entitled David Sedaris Diaries: A Visual Compendium (October 2017). A forthcoming book of essays entitled Calypso is set to be published June 2018, and a second volume of his diaries is expected for summer 2019.
